Akagera comprises some of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa – open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamps, and low grassy mountains.

It is home to the big five of Africa after the reintroduction of lions into the park in 2015 after a 20-year absence and rhinos in 2017. to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, some enormous crocodiles, the rare sitatunga, and more than 520 birds species, teeming with plains game; an awe-inspiring experience awaits you in this part of the country; it is fun, breathtaking, and memorable.

DETAILED ITINERARY

After a relaxed breakfast, the hope tours driver guide will pick you up at your hotel, give a short briefing on your safari, and then drive to the eastern part of Rwanda to Akagera National Park (2h30), passing through Rwanda’s otherworldly landscapes and living styles. Arriving at the park, you will head to the park headquarters for registration and briefing, then proceed to your lodge for check-in and lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Lake Ihema for the 2hrs boat cruise, where you will get a chance to spot some crocodiles, hippos, and other wildlife that ramble near the lake shores.

The incredible mountain gorilla trekking is a must-visit and a once-a-lifetime experience while visiting Rwanda. 1-day mountain gorilla trekking is the shortest affordable yet magnificent, designed to fit tourists with busy schedules and budgets, especially those attending the conferences in Kigali.

This trip will give you a great chance to explore and spend time with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of the Volcanoes National Park.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Early at 4:30 am, you will be picked with our guide from your hotel with a packet breakfast and drive around 2:30 hours, heading to The Volcanoes National Park HQ, where you will meet park officials for briefing before starting the fantastic trek of the Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes,
The trek may take 2-6 hours, depending on the gorilla family you are allocated to visit. Encountering gorillas, you will spend 1-hour memorable moments with them.

After the trekking, you will visit The Gorilla Guardians village to experience the stories of former gorilla poachers who turned in their guardians and share Rwandan traditional culture experiences, including weeding and dances.

You will have a late lunch before driving back to Kigali, where our guide will drop you either at your hotel or the airport if you are departing the same day.
